All about prostheses. How to choose?

At the moment there are ultrasonic baths. With their help, the cleaning of dentures is very effective and safe.

Removable dentures are a conservative method of restoring lost teeth. Removable – means that the patient can remove the structure on their own (or with the help of a doctor if the prosthesis is attached with special locks to adjacent teeth). Removable dentures are widely used: if all the teeth in the jaw are missing or if you need to mask the absence of a tooth. We offer a wide range of movable structures at prices and assembly methods.

Fully removable and partially removable dentures?

In case of complete absence of teeth, a removable prosthesis for the entire jaw (or both upper and lower prosthesis for both jaws) will be made for you. If at least one tooth is preserved in the mouth, it can serve as a point of support and attachment, in which case a partially removable prosthesis is used.

Fixation of complete dentures.

Fixation of complete removable dentures occurs due to “suction” to the jaw – creating a vacuum between the denture and the gums. The fixation of the prosthesis is influenced by: the volume of the gums, the functions of the mucous membrane, the bony projections on the gums. If the volume of the gums is not enough, it can be difficult to fix, pronounced mucous bands can “tip” the prosthesis, and, for example, the presence of bone protrusions can cause discomfort when wearing a denture. In order for the fixation of the prosthesis to be correct, surgical preparation of the oral cavity is in some cases necessary.

The lifetime of a prosthesis.

When wearing dentures, the gums perform an unusual function – chewing load is not transmitted through the teeth, but through the gums. The gums inevitably change, so the prosthesis must be adjusted regularly – once every 6 months the prosthesis must be relined to maintain the quality of the fixation. Only in this case, the use of a prosthesis will be comfortable, the fixation of the prosthesis will be correct, and the service life will be long.

Partially removable dentures.

Partially removable dentures are made in the presence of at least one tooth in the jaw and are divided into lamellar and clasp. Lamellar removable dentures are held by flexible clasps (hooks) that wrap around the abutment teeth. Higher level partial removable prostheses are locking prostheses. They are much more practical and aesthetic than all of the above. The basis of the locking prosthesis is a metal arch, to which the lost teeth are attached. The clasp prosthesis can be fixed in the oral cavity with the help of cast clasps and special micro-locks (attachments), which are mounted in one part in the supporting crowns, and the other in the locking prosthesis itself. Fixation of the locking prosthesis can be carried out using telescopic crowns. Microlocks are the most aesthetic form of attachment, but require preparation of abutment teeth.

Removable prostheses on implants.

Removable dentures can be attached not only to teeth, but also to dental implants. Implants stabilize the prosthesis, a problem such as the constant “flying off” of the prosthesis when eating or speaking disappears.

Care of prostheses.

Regardless of the type of prosthesis and the materials used, all prostheses require care. Pharmaceutical companies have created entire product lines that will allow high-quality maintenance of the prosthesis. It is necessary to clean the prosthesis with a special paste and brush 2 times a day, at regular intervals it must be immersed in a liquid with a cleaning tablet. Once every 6 months, a preventive examination at the dentist is necessary.
